Overview

CA Foundation registration is the first step for those aspiring to become a CA and hence, it’s vital to understand the ins and outs of the process. While registering for the course seems like the easiest part, you wouldn’t want to miss out on key details. 

This resource guide will walk you through the course registration process of CA Foundation 2021.

Eligibility

Aspirants can register for the CA Foundation Course after passing the class 10 exam conducted by a recognized board in India.

In order to appear in the CA Foundation Examination, candidates must have registered for the CA Foundation course with the Board of Studies (BoS) of ICAI and completed a four months study period from the date of registration. Therefore, those who have registered on or before 1st Jan/1st July 2021 can appear in exams in May/Nov 2021.

However, the results of the CA Foundation will be valid only after the student submits proof that he/she passed the Class XII exams

Registration process

In this section, we’ll outline the steps for registering for the CA Foundation course. The registration is done online and there’s no offline mode to register. 

To start the CA Foundation registration process online, you could visit the official website: http://www.icai.org and navigate to the Self Services Portal (SSP) under the e-services tab on the home page and register as a new student or simply click on the direct link, which will take you to the registration page (as shown below).

 

Now you can follow the step-by-step process as given below.

  • Fill in your personal information such as name, gender, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, etc. Be careful to enter all details accurately because no change will be allowed after form submission
  • Click on “Generate OTP” to submit the details for verification. 
  • A pop-up will ask you to enter the CAPTCHA. Doing so will generate the OTP. You will receive it on your registered email ID and mobile number.

  • Once you enter the OTP and click on “Validate OTP”, your basic information will be verified.

  • You will receive an email validation email in your registered email ID. Click on the link provided to complete the email validation process. 

  • Your user ID and password will be sent to your registered email ID along with the link to the login page (as shown below)

  • Enter your user ID and password and click on “Login”. It will take you to the page below, where you need to click on “Student Cycle”. 

  • After successfully logging in, it’s time to fill in the pending information for your CA Foundation registration in the form shown below. 

This form will require you to enter personal details such as:

  • Father’s Name
  • Mother’s Name
  • Your full address
  • Name of the city
  • Pin code
  • Category
  • Nationality
  1. After filling in the personal details, you’ll be required to fill in your qualification details and upload the scanned copy of your original documents, passport size photograph (21 cm W X 27 cm L), and signature in the CA Foundation 2021 registration form. Click “Save” and move on to the next step.  
  2. Enter your payment details to make the payment. You can pay the prescribed fees through online mode. 

11. After the payment is successful, you’ll receive a system-generated CA Foundation registration form along with a transaction successful message.

The candidates need to pay the requisite fees during the online registration process. Payment is accepted via online mode: Net banking/ debit card/ RUPAY card/ VISA or MASTER or MAESTRO credit card/ BHIM UPI.

If the payment is successful, the system will automatically generate the form along with a successful transaction message. You should save it for future reference.

The validity of registration for the CA Foundation Course is 3 years. If you wish to renew it, you can do so unlimited times for 3 more years by depositing a revalidation fee of Rs.300/-

Important Dates

CA Foundation course is conducted twice a year — in November and May.

While the last date of CA Foundation registration for the May & November 2021 sessions are closed, the registration for the May 2022 session is open for interested candidates

Documents Required

The CA Registration process requires you to submit scanned copies of your original documents. Make sure to be prepared with these ahead of time to prevent any last-minute hassle.

Here are the documents required for CA Foundation registration:

  • Attested copy of admit card/ mark sheet of Class 10 or 12 exams issued by the respective Board.
  • Attested copy of proof of Nationality, if the candidate is a foreign national.
  • Attested copy of proof of special category certificate (if applicable): SC/ST, OBC, Differently abled.
  • Attested copy of the Class 10 mark sheet/ admit card verifying the name and date of birth.
  • One recent colour photograph (affixed on the printout of the online successful registration form).

Please note: The maximum size of the photo to be submitted should be 21 cm wide X 27 cm in length. If these conditions are not met, your application could be rejected.

Check the Registration Status

After you’ve successfully completed the CA Foundation registration process, you’ll be allotted your CA Foundation registration number.

To ensure you have secured the registration, it’s important to check your CA Foundation registration status. You can do so in the following two ways:

  • You’ll receive a confirmation mail with your registration number and password at the end of the registration process. This confirms that you have been successfully registered.
  • To check your registration status, you can also head over to the ICAI official site (www.icai.org) and go to the “E-Services” section to find the option to “Reprint Letter”. Enter your registration number and date of birth to access the letter. If you can do this successfully, your registration is confirmed.

What is the last date of CA Foundation registration?

Every year, the CA Foundation course is conducted in two sessions: November and May.

The last date of registration for the May 2022 session is January 1, 2022. The registration for the November 2022 session is 1st July 2022.
