After discounting bank charges 6% of 4000 which is 80 that is divided in 1:1 ratio 40 each in first instance....then In second instance,out of 7000 bank charges 400 and gave back 6600 400 in 1:1 ratio 200 each Got it?

How does this 10000 is calculated on what basis because in question the detail is only for 9600 neither 400 discount or 10000 y's a/c

Here the total amount discounting with bank is 30000...after deducting bank charges X get 28800...X is remitting 1/3 of 30000 after deducting 1/3 of total discount Here they are dividing 30000in ratio of (X:Y-2:1) That is, 28800*1/3=9600 The discount is shared btw two parties in the ratio they divided the amt. So, 1200*1/3 = 400 So 9600+400= 10000

It is a guess actually...x is remitting 9600 out of 28800 which is 1/3 of28800....while X retains 19200 which is 2/3 of 28800

If we find that then finding discount become simpler...the discount ratio guessed remains same for discount calculation in whole question...while amt. Remmited may change

Here it is 1:1 ratio because he is remitting 50% 4000 is divided in ratio of 1:1 that is. ...2000 each and discount accordingly
