If in a case study, I am not sure whether the relevant provision is a section or a rule, then should I write, AS PER COMPANIES ACT. If it turns out to be a rule, then will marks be deducted

Normally, an act will contain sections. So if you write AS PER COMPANIES ACT, it obviously means you are referring to a rule which was passed by the legislature and made it is a section.

"As per the provisions of The Companies Act, 2013 ...."
