Are there any sums being asked on the topics of 1.difference in reporting dates 2. Investment in preference share capital As there are no sums in the T.b on those topics

Consolidation problems are tested at CA Final level as well. You are referring to some May 1983 questions. Even if they ask such questions, you just need to adjust profits by the interest amount. Do not overdo problems. If you are able to solve past papers, RTPs and MTPs - it is more than sufficient at CA Inter level.
