In Question 10 you know that an investor has purchased and is selling out; you also are given purchase price and sale prices - in such cases you use IRR. In Question 11 They have not mentioned any one person having purchased - generic data is available for all years - If someone enters at beginning of the year and exits in at the end of the year and he/she does that for 4 years period - you use GM method - unless they specify that a person has entered in year 1 and exited at end of year 4 in which case in between data is irrelevant
