Is it a certificate course?

Soon to be CA

from IIM Visakhapatnam??

FRM is a course offered by a US based professional body called GARP FRM stands for Financial risk manager It is a 2 level course and prepares you for a career in risk management like bank treasuries , currencies, stocks, etc it is high on quant and stats and teaches you advanced concepts in finance that are linked to financial markets and how risk can be managed therein Some content of FRM is common with CFA but that probably would be about 20-30% depending on topic and your back ground. It is a course that requires effort and also costs you close to 1600 - 2000 usd for both levels depending on when you register - pass % is 45-50% You can check their syllabus in pdf below. For more information visit GARP website

Difficult - yes - more quant - Do companies prefer - yes but for specific roles on risk management Job opportunities - Not too many but ; the few opportunities that exist are definitely well paying ones - a CA plus FRM will make your resume more attractive to Bank's risk teams / treasury teams etc
