Is it that we have to take pre-construction period deduction if it has been paid in the current year or should we take deduction even or not it has been paid in the current financial year

Date of payment in the current AY is immaterial.
Even if it has been paid in previous years can we take deduction

"Interest payable" shall be deducted in equal instalments for the said previous year and for each of the four immediately succeeding previous years(total five years). Date of payment is not material
