Impact of Demerger to share holders

If a listed company demerge its part of the business and form another company then what about shareholders in which company will they be holding share..is it the old company or newly formed company?

They will Demerge as per a scheme. Usually the shareholders are alloted shares in new company also. They will have shares in old and new company -both
