Indian citizen criteria

Direct Taxation

A person becomes Indian citizen if he is born in India. While taking foreign citizenship, does it amount to that person stop being Indian citizen? Person of Indian origin depends on parents or grandparents of Indian origin. In this case, since grandparents born in Sydney, parents are considered not of Indian origin (though Indian citizen by birth)? Yes if he takes up foreign citizenship he will cease to be Indian citizen as per Indian laws.you can refer to Akshay Kumar's case . In second Indian origin depends on grandparents or parents being born in undivided India so if they are not person can't be considered of Indian origin

If a person takes up foreign citizenship then he will cease to be an Indian citizen. He cannot be a citizen of two countries as per existing law practically. Person of Indian origin means he or any of his parents or any of his grand parents are born in undivided India.
