Investments are assets held by an enterprise for earning income by way of dividends, interest and rentals, for capital appreciation, or for other benefits to the investing enterprise What Does other benefits means, does it include non monetary/financial benefits

Can you please explain in detail I don't get it
Such questions won't be asked in the exam..just have an Idea about investment and process of accounting for investment..any ways question asked based on intrest , devided ...even rental also won't be asked in problem solving..but just understand that any investment made by company for other benefits than those specified above are other benefits.

Other benefits could be for e.g. - Investment in Subsidiary to get control over raw materials/ patents etc.
But sir preceding words relates to economic benefits so does the general word also relates to it?

Other benefit means strategic benefit,control,tax benefit,diversification,net worth etc…

We are not learning law here. Overdoing too much hampers examination preparation. Expert knowledge can be obtained after qualifying as a CA. There is a 1000 page guide just on leases. But we wont learn 1000 page for exams.

Many company have section 8 company as their subsidiary company and section 8 company are not permitted to distribute dividend that' why I am asking whether other benefits includes any charitable benefits also

Aren't they getting subsidies , donations other benefits from sec8 company...no company would do direct charity ..
