PV: Discounting leading to loss?
Financial Management
answered on 25-Sep-25 07:25
Good Morning sir, So in case of PV, more number of discounting leads to diminish the value of investment, because as i observe that in case of FV, the more compounding period within annually, tends to increase the value of PV in future, BUT in case of PV, more discounting periods within annually, tends to diminish the value of investment. THE current case; CF= Rs.5,00,000, & PV comes to Rs. 3,43,308 when discounted annually, which is a good sign, but when discounted half yearly, PV turns out to be Rs. 7,02,358 which is more than the FV, which i guess is not a good sign for the company. Am i correct to understand this way? [Video Time Stamp: 04:42]

Decimal values
Financial Management
answered on 24-Sep-25 19:01
sir, in your case you have taken 5 decimal values after point. Is it because of the reason that the CF= 1,00,000 has 5 zeros in it and to have a precise answer we are filling these 5 zeros with decimal value? Because i get wrong answer (Rs. 3,00,000) which is straight away derived by the formula using only 2 decimal value after point. [Video Time Stamp: 12:25]

Formula Vs Expanded solving method
Financial Management
answered on 24-Sep-25 09:31
Good morning sir, Sir, in this lecture, it was beautifully taught how to use the expanded version of formula and its calculation using the calculator. But i tried to solve using the formula and got a different answer. Meanwhile your answer is prescise when compared to mine. is it because that i used only 2 numbers after decimal point? or because i used the formula instead of expanded version? [Video Time Stamp: 12:25]

Take at least 3 to 4 decimals to compute.

answered on 24-Sep-25 09:34
Sir, as the criteria mentioned 'and' condition i.e., listed AND net worth limit. Then why are we considering unlisted companies as applicable for IndAS
latest answer
Listed and Net worth 500 cr or more - Phase 1 Listed and net worth < 500 cr - Phase 2. SO if a company is listed either they would fall in phase 1 or phase 2. So for current periods we just need to check whether listed or not.

The profit and loss account balance in trial balance - what does it exactly mean sir? In previous illustrations we took it as opening balance , in this illustration you are saying it is the balance after all adjustments.. Since there is no P&L items given in question are we assuming it as the profit for the year? [Video Time Stamp: 01:24]
