Advertisement with vague reward

Corporate & Other Laws

answered on 12-May-22 19:10

If in the question , reward amount if considered to be absent , then , can Mr. Aseem win the case on grounds of vague offer and void agreement ?

latest answer

An invitation to offer is different from offer. Quotations, menu cards, price tags, advertisements in newspaper for sale are not offer. These are merely invitations to public to make an offer. An invitation to offer is an act precedent to making an offer. Acceptance of an invitation to an offer does not result in the contract and only an offer emerges in the process of negotiation. But there is an exception to above provisions. When advertisement in newspaper is made for reward, it is the general offer to public. On the basis of above provisions and facts, it can be said that as advertisement made by Mr. Aseem to find lost car is an offer, he is liable to pay ` 10,000 to Mr. Vikram. The above case is a General Offer. If the reward amount is not mentioned it will be just a news like the car has been stolen. In that case Mr. Vikram finds the car he cannot ask for reward which is not mentioned.

The resources in an economy are limited to the means they can generated but due to their alternative uses they create unlimited demand in the economy which remains unsatisfied due to the scarcity of the resources and their alternative uses.
