What is the derivation behind this formula

latest answer

I would suggest forget the derivation and stick to concept. Use algebra. Let the no of units be X Sales = vc + fc + profit 30X = 20.25X + 170625 + 3X Solve for it to get the ans And for the derivation (30x-20.25x) = 170625 + 3x (30x-20.25x) -3x = 170625 X [(30-20.25) -3] = 170625 X[ contribution pu - profit pu ] = Fc X = Fc/[ contribution pu - profit pu ]
