IndAS - 115 (relating to custodian services)

Financial Reporting

answered on 19-Aug-25 14:22

A machinery is sold on a particular day for a fixed amount (all other criteria is satisfied for recognition) and ownership transferred to the customer but physical custody remains with the supplier according to the customer request for 2 more years. No amount is charged for the custody of machinery. Then how will this additional obligation be accounted for? Any part of the consideration from that fixed amount to be charged for this additional service?

latest answer

Actual consideration = ₹10,00,000 • Standalone price machinery = ₹10,00,000 • Standalone price custody service = ₹1,00,000 • Total standalone price = ₹11,00,000 Allocation: • Machinery portion = (10,00,000 / 11,00,000) × 10,00,000 = ₹9,09,091 • Custody portion = (1,00,000 / 11,00,000) × 10,00,000 = ₹90,909 Accounting: • Recognize ₹9,09,091 as revenue on sale (ownership transfer). • Recognise ₹90,909 as deferred revenue and recognise it over 2 years as custody service is provided.

Time stamp: 6.35 Sir, Can you please clarify the following? My understanding is that when a dividend is declared but not paid, its value is reflected in the share's market price, which then falls after the dividend is paid. If the market value of the investment already accounts for the dividend, why is a separate adjustment for 'dividend receivable' necessary? [Video Time Stamp: 05:31]

Exceptions(of Sec 67) - Pvt Ltd.

Corporate & Other Laws

answered on 18-Aug-25 21:48

Mam, do both sub-sec 1 and 2 of Sec 67 don't apply to private companies, or only the provision regarding buying own shares by providing financial assistance to third party doesn't apply? [Video Time Stamp: 03:38]

latest answer

To avail the exemption, no other company should own any securities in that private company. In the given question, a public company owns shares of the private company. therefor the exemption will not apply on such private company. therefor section 67 will be applicable on it.
