Debit note and credit note
Indirect Taxation
answered on 18-Aug-25 16:27
Hello everyone, I’ve been trying to understand the concept of debit note and credit note, but I still get confused even after reading multiple times. If anyone can explain the core logic or give a simple example, I’d be very grateful. Thank you in advance.
latest answer
Debit Note or Credit Note is a document given by supplier only. Debit Note is given in order to increase the tax whereas credit note is given in order to reduce the tax.

TEST YOUR UNDERTANDING - 3 (INVESTIGATION)
Auditing
answered on 22-Mar-26 14:20
Good Morning mam, (wishing the 1FIN team a Happy 79th Independence Day)... Mam, as in this case, the auditor is appointed to verify financial data and that too which represent historical data. The auditor cannot give reasonable assurance because the records are for interim period only BUT STILL ....The auditor can provide MODERATE ASSURANCE in name of REVIEW ENGAGEMENT, instead of INVESTIGATION. isnt it mam? Because an auditor is not expected to have expertise in the field of investigating the details of FIRE Accident, also for investigation, the Insurance PSU has already appointed a person from their feild. Then is it correct to understand that the auditor here appointed to provide a REVIEW ASSURANCE with the interim financial records? [Video Time Stamp: 07:30]
latest answer
If records stop before 31st March, it indicates they are interim in nature.

answered on 19-Aug-25 11:35
Sir, in the above nikki & co example - point 7. In Point 7, it states that there is a Dr in the bank statement, meaning in the passbook Dr side (Outflow), but we have considered it as Dr in the cash book (bank column) (Inflow). Why? I'm not able to understand this adjustments logic sir. [Video Time Stamp: 07:12]
latest answer
As we are making change in pass book. In the given point when cheque received we increased the cash balance. So to balance with cash book we increase the balance in the passbook.

Percentage of downside risk formula
AFM
answered on 04-Apr-26 17:26
Sir, just to confirm — if the question asks us to find the below, is the formula used is correct?" 1. Percentage of downside risk = (MP of convertible bond-Straight value of bond)/ MP of convertible bond (ill-43) 2.Premium over Straight value of bond = (MP of convertible bond-Straight value of bond)/Straight value of bond. (mentioed in ill-29) [Video Time Stamp: 04:30]
latest answer
I agree with you. What I wanted to say above did not come out clearly. When you call something downside risk, denominator has to be higher value and when you say premium it has to be lower value. Pls check Q no 24 of icai SM link below and screenshot of ICAI solution also attached. I was referring to Ill 24 where question says downside risk. so anchor has to be higher amount - but they provided solution with denominator as higher amount - this is what I was alluding to as ICAI Logic This kind of dichotomy is present in past RTP/ SA/ MTP too. https://resource.cdn.icai.org/87846bos-aps2163-ch5.pdf page 66 of 72

SQC 1 and SA 220
Auditing
answered on 16-Aug-25 22:41
How to distinguish both these in the case study? Both these represent the same.
latest answer
No they don’t . One is at firm level for every type of engagement. Be it audit, review or non assurance as well . But SA 220 is only for audit . Responsibility in SQC 1 is of partners ( managing partners , CEO etc) In SA 220 , it’s engagement partner alone . One Is at firm level other is at engagement level!
