Flotation cost in WACC market value

Financial Management

answered on 28-May-25 10:26

Why don't we subtract flotation cost by the computation of WACC @market value where for ex. Mps =24 flotation cost 4rs. Then 50000shares ×(net mps I e,) 20 rs instead of 24?

latest answer

Because floatation cost is specific to debt or equity or pref, adjustment should be made at their level and not WACC level

Here, there is a payment of 12500rs that is paid to the creditor and there is a debt of 12500 rs.should we consider the amount of 12500 paid to clear the debt of 12500 rs or should we consider that amount is paid to clear the time barred debts? Pls provide the complete answer for this question

latest answer

Since no direction has been given on how to appropriate the payments the payment received can be appropriated against time barred debts.

Why Is USD the Base Currency When CHF Appears Stronger?

AFM

answered on 28-May-25 13:26

In the given question, the USD/CHF quote is 1.4650/55, which indicates that USD is the base currency — i.e., 1 USD = CHF 1.4650/1.4655. Is CHF not stronger/costlier than USD, shouldn’t the quote be expressed as 1 CHF = USD 1.4650/1.4655? If so, is CHF shouldn't be the base currency instead?

latest answer

Your understanding is correct. ICAI many times goes by market convention (where base currency is mentioned first) and sometimes by its own logic where base currency is mentioned as decimator. hence it is important to understand and read question carefully and also remember the stronger vs weaker currency levels i have mentioned in classes / revision videos as well as LDR notes
