A Ltd is presently manufacturing refrigerators. Case 1) A Ltd has acquired B Ltd which manufactures products belonging to same industry like refrigerators, air conditioners and chimneys. Case 2) A Ltd decides to manufacture another line of product in its current Industry i.e. HVAC. Say it has started to manufacture Air Conditioners. Case 3) A Ltd decides to manufacture products in a Luxury industry. Say it has started to manufacture expensive clothes, watches. Case 4) A Ltd has acquired C Ltd, which distributes the refrigerators to wholesalers and retailers. Case 5) A Ltd has acquired D Ltd, which supplies A Ltd necessary materials it needs to manufacture refrigerators. [All the above cases are independent.] Case 1 Horizontal Integrated Case 2 Concentric Case 3 Conglomerate Case 4 Vertically Integrated - Forward Case 5 Vertically integrated - Backward Am I right or wrong? Please comment.

In the book it says: "why they want to do represent strategic intent of the firm" but "what they want to do" represents what? is not written. Can you tell me?

Both Competitive Landscape and Strategic Group Management involve identifying Competitors in order to determine their strengths and weaknesses and exploit them. With the only possible difference being the procedure for constructing SGM. Are there any more differences like when to use which one? Like here in book it says " strategic group mapping is suited when an industry has so many competitors that it is not practical to examine each one in the depth".

During the lockdowns I remeber they both started delivering alcohol. If I remember correctly they both started this service together. Did they form some kind of contract between themselves regarding the same to curb competition or something? How can two different companies start a service at the same time? Or mere coincidence?

On top of this, both of the firms are always monitoring other similar firms in the industry through Premise Control. So they will stay updated about the other's moves.
