IBS books to be carried

Electives - Final

answered on 29-Sep-24 09:14

sir Iam having some issues: 1. specific prep for IBS apart from reading other 5 papers, like solving ICAI CSD (case study digest), private authors, PYP/MTP, reference books (I have brought one book called sampurna from a private author cum CA, which contains key SM topics and detailed content on subjects to prepare, important lessons to read, index for quick revision, etc) 2. Quantity of books to be carried. like iam really afraid that i may have to literally carry a suitcase or two, as i have a vast amount of info, books to use and we are not sure from where concepts may be tested apart from SM. carrying SM would mean I will have to take 3 modules atleast per subject and 2 each for SPOM. (3 module audit, 4 each for fr, dt, idt) and 1 big bulk AFM book. Kindly guide me as to: a) how much and what to carry b) specific approach in exam hall apart from reading qp for 15 mins. example how to start paper, where to start (mcq or descriptive), whether to read CS onc or multiple times, time to be taken, what to do if after first 1.5 hrs (half time), etc Kindly reply at the earliest sir

SD is not additive

AFM

answered on 28-May-25 09:53

Hi sir, can you please share, why variance is additive but not SD, SD is only a square root of variance here we are doubling the discounting factors instead why can't we use SD itself for discounting

latest answer

This example may provide clarity on why Variance is additive and SD is not.

Distinctive useful lives for multiple components

Financial Reporting

answered on 30-Sep-24 15:48

Hi sir, In Illustration 41, the office building has a useful life of 40 years, and the HVAC system & office furniture each has a life of 15 years. How can the office building, along with the HVAC system, be considered as a single lease component despite having distinctive useful lives?

latest answer

Lessee takes on a lease of 10 years. SO for full ten years all parts would be used. Pls note that HVAC system cannot be used without building and vice versa. There are interdependent.

Discount rate in case of reduction of scope

Financial Reporting

answered on 30-Sep-24 15:53

Hi sir, Around the 9:00 timestamp, the original discount rate has been used assuming a reduction in the scope of original T&C. Shouldn't the revised discount rate be used since a reduction in the scope accounts for a lease modification?

latest answer

That is the calculation of balance lease liability, if the lease is to continue for 3 years.
