Portfolio Beta
AFM
answered on 15-Jan-24 20:39
Sir, here we have not considered the futures because we are not putting additional Investments in case of shorting of stocks also if, there are no investments should it be only considered in the returns (numerator) . and also in case there is any investment outlay for shorting or purchasing futures or shorting stocks do we require to include them in investment ( denomitor) for computing beta of portfolio.
latest answer
Technically yes. Investment that we put in for short will be in the form of loan or cash. Loan and cash have no beta so impact will be zero.

40yr of age & 10yr of service = this condition don’t apply to public Co employee ? But apply to other govt co employee on whom VRS is applicable ? Aren’t the both attachment contradictory ? I have highlighted the context
latest answer
As per my understanding the employees of the above listed companies are exempted from VRS provided they satisfied the condition specified in the rule i.e 10 years of service or 40 years age. However if the public sector company i.e govt.company framed their own scheme for volunter separation of their ee's then above requirement is not applicable

Value of convertible Bond
AFM
answered on 16-Jan-24 05:44
why is the coupon interest value not included while calculating the value of convertible Bond? why only the market value of shares received per bond is considered?
latest answer
Past interest is irrelevant Most of converts are structured in such a way that holder sees significant value appreciation if the convert as equity price can go up multiple times. If equity price does not go up by time of conversion the holder can choose not to convert and can seek repayment of bond on due date
