Sir, Why the Rupee Depreciates when the Interest rates of India are higher than in the US was not explained. An example was given but when we see the Japanese Yen which has depreciated close to 83% in the past 12 years when their Interest rates were negative in the past 12 years which was nearly less than US Interest rates.

Financial Reporting

answered on 23-Jan-24 11:39

Sir...In Q 4 there is 150000 spent on faulty design...can it be included in cost of ppe...there can be view that without incurring that amount the construction cannot be completed. please clarify

latest answer

The extra expense does not increase the value of asset. Say you bought a mobile phone and the display broke the first day. You spent money to rectify the display to make it usable. Does it increase the value of asset?

Treatment of Borrowing Costs in case of expenditure made on credit

Financial Reporting

answered on 23-Jan-24 11:40

Sir, in the lecture it was explained that if any expenditure has been made on credit, then such expenditure won't be considered to calculate the interest capitalized amount, unless it has been settled by payment of cash, or transfer of assets, or by incurring any other interest-bearing liability. If we consider the last case scenario where the expenditure has been settled by incurring another interest-bearing loan, then will the interest on such secondary loan also be capitalized in the cost of the asset?

latest answer

Yes.
