Market Beta

Sir, In the study material, they have compared the Market risk implicit with Portfolio Beta to conclude whether the portfolio is risker compared to market. They have considered dividend returns for computation of Market Beta (1.42). Which one we should follow in exams sir?

What happens to the continuing Debtors?

Financial Reporting

answered on 28-Nov-25 11:48

Sir, The assumed liability will be amortised to pnl but what about continuing debtors because the continuing debtors is 5.5crores but if we go to collect we will only receive 5crores at max from the debtors in case of failure to pay the factoring company. What will we do with hanging balance of 0.5crores in continuing debtors? Should we write off? If that is the case then the net effect on pnl would be 0 because of the guarantee commission then what is the purpose of recognise it and on the other hand writing off the debtors to pnl [Video Time Stamp: 17:57]

latest answer

At the end the net impact might be zero. The reason to account for these separately is to ensure that income is recognised as per normal accounting pricniples - say over a period of time as per Ind AS 115. The loss on assets will be recognised based on credit assessment. So its more of a timing adjustment. The continuing involvement in asset is shown because if the debtor defaults, the company has a right over debtor.

Option selling probability

In stock market is it true only option sellers make money in long term although option buying seem like a easy money a statistics says most of the OTM options dont end up positive at expiry which in turn increase the option sellers profits

latest answer

Not necessary. Option sellers make profits during stable periods. Option buyers during volatility

regarding important questions

AFM

answered on 24-Nov-25 20:43

Sir, I looked up the important questions for the January attempt, and the PDF shows 34 questions in the Interest Rate Risk Management chapter, but my study material has only 31 questions. So my concern is: have additional questions been added after the existing 31? In other words, the order of the original questions hasn’t been changed, right? Because if the order has changed, the important questions I’ve already marked in my study material will get completely mixed up.

Order not changed Only new questions added

Carrying Value

Financial Reporting

answered on 28-Nov-25 12:11

Sir, In this question, how did you arrive at the carrying Value to be 10lacs. Because it is not given in the question that CV is 10lacs and the date on which the transfer is taking place is not given. In that case if we assume that it is on the date of initial recognition itself we are transferring the asset then it will be at FV+ TC (no TC details are given, so it should be FV), but how come 10lacs? Please clarify

latest answer

it is assumed that the loan had a fair value of 10 lacs at initial recognition. Assuming interest rate as per market was also 18%. On the date of this transaction, the fair value is different.

Business combination

I had a query in a logic to be understood. When we calculate the value of SBP award (pre combination) we include it in purchase consideration, i agree ! But in one solution which we solved in class we also adjusted in net assets, could you pls explain its logic, is it because we also create a liability and hence liability increases and hence reduction in net assets

latest answer

yes.

Reclassification from Asset held for sale

Financial Reporting

answered on 24-Nov-25 15:13

While we reclassify the asset held for sale into PPE and the carrying amount is below 460000, can we take it as an impairment by 26154? Or should we directly transfer to P&L? because if there is a need to reverse the impairment in the future, this amount will need to be considered. Kindly please clarify

latest answer

As per Ind AS 105 - it is treated as a loss. Its not treated as impairment loss.
