How to calculate the (14.2 years) in the following question. How to calculate the power value of 14.2 years(n) without using log method, directly substituting the answers in the question in sum number 8

This is the working till last step. After that you can get exact answer either with log method ( if both 2 and log 1.05 values are given) or by trail and error where 1.05^14 is 1.97. So 14.2 is the closest and right answer
