Let total number of workers be 100. Skilled is S and unskilled is 100 - S if average of unskilled workers ( 100-S) is 15000 then total salary of all unskilled workers is ( 100-S) x 10000 - Eq 1 and same way total salary of all skilled workers is S x 15000 - Eq 2 Given that combined average is 12000 then total salary of all skilled and unskilled workers is 100 x 12000 - Eq - 3 Eq 3 = Eq 1 + Eq 2 12000 x 100 = 15000 S + (100-S) x 10000 12 x 100 = 15S + (100-s) x 10 1200 = 15 S + 1000 - 10S 5S = 200 S = 40 Skilled workers are 40 / 100 = 40% unskilled are 60%
