Hello, Firstly we can choose between a car or van and then we have to choose between 2 patterns and then choose 1 color out of 5. So the number of choices would be 2C1(van or car) x 2C1(pattern) x 5C1(color) = 2x2x5 = 20.

2 choces for model, 2 choices for body patterns and 5 for color. So 2x2x5 = 20

Hey Yamuna, I don't understand why you took 5C2, that expression is used when we have to choose 2 objects out of 5. However in the given instance we will have to choose between 1 color out of 5 and 1 pattern out of 2. So kindly recheck and correct me if I am wrong.

5C2 is used when we have to arrange 2 out of 5 things in different ways. So she has done right as we have to arrange 2 colours of out of 5 given in two patterns for every 2 colours. The answer is 20 as for each of the cars, 10 arrangements are possible.
