This is nothing but permutation of n things when r are chosen at a time. The formula shall have r factors. It's a part of theorem itself. Can refer pg 5.4 of ICAI SM for explanation. So, say permutation of 6 objects, when 2 are chosen at a time will be given by 6P2 = 6 (in first place) X 5 (in second place) - it has 2 factors.
