For increase or decrease of quantity:- Say original qty =x; Increased qty is y The ration of increase or decrease i.e., x/y = a/b therefore new qty i.e., y =x(b)/a

Commensurate means measurable by the same standards.... In mathematics, two non-zero real numbers a and b are said to be commensurable if their ratio ab is a rational number; otherwise a and b are called in-commensurable. (Recall that a rational number is one that is equivalent to the ratio of two integers.)
