A share is a part in the capital of a company that comes from the issue of shares. The term "security" is a fungible, negotiable financial instrument that holds some type of monetary value. It represents an ownership position in a publicly-traded corporation via stock or a creditor relationship with a governmental body or a corporation represented by owning that entity's bond or rights to ownership as represented by an option. The interest of the company (sometimes company benefit or commercial benefit) is a concept that the board of directors in corporations are in most legal systems required to use their powers for the commercial benefit of the company and its members.
