Basically what you are asking cost of goods available for sale is the cost of production.ignore what they have written.Understand that cogs =opening stock of Finished Goods+Cost of production - closing stock of Finished Goods. And cost of production is calculated above

The question which remains is that how they have found closing stock

Opening stock of finished goods in year 1 - Not given. So, NIL Opening stock of finished goods in Year 2 is closing stock of year 1. i.e., 1000 units Total units produced in year 1 is 6000 units. So, they are available for sale in year 1 Total units produced in year 2 is 9000 units. Along with them, we are having 1000 units as opening stock. So, total goods available is 10000 units
