Exams Cancelled | How to Plan for November attempt?

What we know?

• May 2020 attempt is now merged with Nov 2020 attempt
• Exemptions/Fees can be carried forward to Nov 2020 attempt
• Students need to apply afresh (fill exam forms again) for Nov 2020 attempt
• Groups can be added/changed
• Centers can be changed

What we do not know?

• Exact date of November 2020 exams
• Impact on CA Inter attempt for CA Foundation students and on CA Final attempt for CA Inter students
• Impact of excess leaves due to Covid and exams cancellation. 

What to do next?

• Firstly take a break! You have been going through a lot of stress in the last 3-4 months. The preparation for CA exams never end and as the exams get postponed, it becomes difficult. 
• Do not over revise (This applies to students of all levels). This could lead to exhaustion by the time its time for November exams. 
• CA Foundation students
  • If you have revised your syllabus twice, pick up a couple of subjects (like accounts, FM, Law) from CA Inter and start preparation. You can get books from icai.org in pdf format. Get back to the foundation preparation one month before the exams. 
  • If you have not completed your syllabus or revision, use this time to complete those. 
  • Even if you have not started your preparation yet, you have good four months to complete the syllabus. 
• CA Inter students
  • If you had planned for only 1 group, this is an opportunity to add the other group
  • If you had planned for both groups and have not completed your revision, use this time to revise. 
  • If you are done with your revisions, use this time to learn courses like excel, practical application of GST and Income Tax, Ind AS, Capital Markets, Communication skills. This will help you a lot in your articleship. 
  • If you are undergoing articleship, discuss your leave plan for the November attempt now itself.
• CA Final Students
  • Mostly you would be required to join back your articleship.
  • Discuss with your principal and plan leaves for November attempt now itself. Since the deadlines for returns would fall in Oct/Nov, it might be a tight situation at your office as well.
  • Keep track of your revision considering the leaves you might get.
