ICAI New Syllabus | Wait for Official Announcement | Message from CA Suraj Lakhotia

Dear Students,

We are receiving queries from many students everyday regarding the new scheme implementation. New videos are coming up on YouTube guessing about syllabus etc. Some videos are using old documents (apparently when the plan was to implement from Nov-22). All these videos have added more confusion than clarity to the students. I advise all the students to stop bothering and focus on their studies.

In my view, students should keep the following points in mind.

CA Inter Students

Students who cleared CA Foundation in Dec-22 attempt have time till 1st March for CA Inter Registration. Till that time, you should start preparing for subjects like Accounting Standards, Law, Audit & Taxation. Even if you do not plan to enroll for classes, you should start self-study with existing materials available on BOS Portal. You can also refer to the notes which are available in our free resources section.
The syllabus is going to remain 80-90% the same. Even if you prepare under the current syllabus, you will be able to be ready under the new syllabus as and when implemented.
In the past, ICAI had allowed parallel attempts (in 2006 & 2017). Even if ICAI does not allow it, there would not be much of a challenge since the number of subjects would be reduced.
If you have cleared a group or secured exemptions in the current scheme, you will get the corresponding benefits in the new scheme which would be implemented. So do not worry about this.

CA Final Students

Students who have cleared CA Inter in the Nov-22 attempt would be more or less completing CA Final at about the same time as explained in this video - Should you wait for articleship?
Start with subjects like FR, SFM, or Audit as these would have the least changes.
Students eligible for Nov-23 exams should prepare as if they would write in the existing scheme as there is no clarification or confirmation from ICAI.

I am registered under ca final course on 9th of march 2011 and cleared one of my 1st group of ca final on may 2014. I have duly completed my orientation ,IT training and articleship under the old course prevalent at that time. Now i want to reappear my ca final 2nd group under new scheme of education and training in may 2024. Am i exempted from the online self paced exam and group 1 exam in the new course? kindly suggest.

If a student clears inter grp 1 in nov 23(old course), then will he be automatically converted to new scheme for group 2? If yes then how many papers will he have to give? Also since accounts and adv accounts has been combined, in reference to above example will he have to give adv accounts separately or he will get scheme benefit as he has cleared grp 1 already?

No one knows whether there is automatic conversion or an option to convert - at some point, it will become automatic - whether in the first attempt or not no one knows. Exemptions will be appropriately handled. pls wait for official announcement - at this point all we can do is guess

Register at earliest - order Group 1 books now and order group 2 books one year before exams so that you get latest printed books

Happy evening sir, I already registered for the CA final ..Can i opt for a new scheme and if i opt for an old scheme how many attempts the old scheme exists. Give some clarity sir! Thanks for the clarification platform!

ICAI has not yet announced a transition scheme. We need clarity from ICAI in this regard. Earlier in 2006 & 2017 we had parallel attempts.

If you start now, 9 months will be completed in Nov - 23 and hence you will write exams in May-24 only.

Even if you register for articleship under existing scheme, you will be eligible to write in May-24 only.

This is a million-dollar question. Direct entry scheme - Under new syllabus, students can start articleship only after clearing both groups.

Saw this in page no.55 of prospectus Graduate/Post Graduate route students who registers under Direct Entry Scheme in the respective decentralised office for the Course and Commence Practical Training on or before 1st February/1st August shall be eligible for November/May examinations on completion of 9 months practical training.
