For every CA aspirant in the country, the CA foundation is the most important step in the CA journey. Quite often students face difficulty in the registration process and that’s why it is crucial you know how to register.

In this quick guide, we will take you through the online registration process, exam registration process, and some frequently asked questions. This should help you complete the registration without any hassle.

Is CA Foundation Registration Available Offline?

Let’s quickly answer the question that’s probably in the minds of many students. Even before the dawn of COVID-19, a lot of CA processes have moved online and  CA foundation registration is now completely an online process.

If you are new to the online process then we suggest you go through the below steps carefully and complete your registration carefully. Failing to do so may result in rejection or reapplication. It will increase the time taken for the entire registration process.

How to Register for CA Foundation Online

The more convenient way of doing the registration is through the online portal. The process is easy and can be done from anywhere through the self-service portal.

Here’s how to register online:

Step 1: Go to eservices.icai.org

Step 2: Click on the first time user (new student) option

Step 3: You will get the registration details that you have to fill. Ensure you recheck all the details you enter to correct any mistakes you may have made. Click on “Generate the OTP” once done.

Step 4: Once your OTP verification is done, you will get an email confirming the same, along with the login credentials.

Step 5: Log in with your credentials and choose the student cycle.

Step 6: Click on apply for Foundation. If you are a direct entry applicant, then choose that option.

Step 7: Now you will have to fill in three different types of forms such as personal, educational, and payment details. To ensure that you have all the necessary documents scanned and handy.

Step 8: Once you have filled in the personal and educational information, you will reach the payment section where you have to pay the registration fee. For Indian students, the registration fee is INR 9200 (which includes the cost of the foundation prospectus and foundation registration fee). For foreign students, it is $720. You may also choose optional subscriptions such as student’s and member’s journals for an additional INR 700.

Step 9: Once the online registration is done, all the necessary documents should be submitted to the concerned regional ICAI office within 7 days of online registration.

You will receive your registration number through your email. If you are from the north you will get an NRO registration number, if you are from the south you will get an SRO registration number and so on with central (CRO), east (ERO), and west (WRO).

You will also get a link in the email where you can purchase the study materials.

You have to ensure that you follow these 9 steps carefully to have a smooth process and complete your registration.

As per the latest provisional registration instructions, you can register to a CA foundation as soon as you are done with Class X, which will give you ample time to prepare for the test. You may also appear for the test before completing Class XII, however, your CA foundation result will only be valid after you prove that you have passed your Class XII
