Overview

CA Inter is one of the toughest exams and it takes a lot of hard work to crack it. The number of students that appear for the exam each year compared to the number of students who clear the exam each year has always been disproportionate.

For example, here is the CA inter pass percentage for November 2023 exam:

The big question is, why does it happen?

Well, there are a number of reasons why it happens but the most important reason is rote learning and memorizing.

The entire purpose of a Chartered Accountant is to help a firm or a company in effectively navigating through its finances. It is a critical job and it needs practical & analytical thinking. In real-time, if a CA does possess these qualities, it can drastically affect the company in many ways. Also, a CA who is not equipped with the right skills and knowledge will shatter right at the beginning of a challenge.

That’s why ICAI has introduced a more practical approach to the CA course and exams. Of course, there are many CA training institutes and CA Faculty who are yet to adapt to the new system and it takes time for old practices to change.

However, things are slowly changing with training institutes across the country adopting more practical ways of teaching. In fact, at Indigo Learn, we understood the need for practical and visual training for CA inter exams right from the beginning. So, we have always concentrated on making our courses as interactive and realistic as possible. It is the reason behind the success of our students.

Now, getting back to CA inter pass percentage, the first thing to do is to aim at equipping yourself with all the knowledge needed to get the minimum pass marks. Once you are confident that you have all the knowledge necessary to do so, you can then move on to studying for higher marks.

Passing Critera

A student is considered to have passed both groups of the Intermediate Examination simultaneously if they meet one of the following conditions:

  Description

2. Attains at least 40% marks in each paper of both groups in one sitting, and attains a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of all papers in both groups combined.

Alternatively, a student is deemed to have passed a single group if they meet the following condition:
