By now it is a known fact that ICAI has revised the syllabus since July 2017, replacing IPCC with CA intermediate. IPCC registration is no longer available and CA students have to choose CA Intermediate instead.
Now that the registration period for Sept'24 & Jan'25 exam eligibility is over, we want to quickly cover the eligibility criteria for CA intermediate registration. You need to remember that the first and obvious step is to clear the CA foundation exam, without which none of the other criteria will be applicable. Alternatively, you can enrol for CA Inter under Direct Entry Scheme as well.
Assuming that you have cleared the CA foundation exam, here’s the list:
It is important to remember that students who go through the foundation route are required to go through 8 months of study after registering for the Intermediate course.
For graduates & postgraduates
Students who are in the last years of their graduation can register for the CA intermediate course by passing all the traditional requirements.
Nevertheless, a student choosing that route can start their CA practical training only upon clearing their graduation. They have to submit their certificates as a proof of accomplishment with the required percentage. Only then will they be eligible to start the course.
During this period of waiting, they can pursue other programs such as the orientation program or the ITT (information technology) program to prepare themselves. These courses should be completed before the start of practical training.
However, if these students fail to produce the evidence required by the ICAI then their registration will be cancelled and the fees will not be refunded.
And another critical aspect, is that they need to successfully complete nine months of practical training in order to appear in the Intermediate examination,
However, the candidates in the CA Intermediate who are registered directly after clearing the Intermediate level of “The Institute of Company Secretaries of India” or “The Institute of Cost Accountants of India”, gain the eligibility similar to students who’ve chosen the CA Foundation route. This means they have to go through only 8 months of study.
It is important to remember these guidelines as they are essential for the overall program.
Now that we know the CA intermediate eligibility criteria and a few guidelines to remember, let’s look at the documents you as a student would need during the registration:
Do ensure that you have all the above documents for a smooth registration process.
The procedure for registration is actually simple and straightforward. Here’s what you need to do:
If you do not receive a registration certificate, please do the following.
You have to continuously check the site after doing this process as it takes more than 30-40 days to get an update.
If the problem continues to persist after all these steps, then you need to contact the ICAI support team or any local body that takes care of these issues. However, in most cases, it goes through successfully. So, there is no need to panic.
Now that you have all the details, choose the right way and the best way to get to the next level of pursuing CA. If you need any help then we at Indigo Learn would be more than happy to help you out.
